Law of Attraction: The Science of Attracting More of What You Want and Less of What You Don’t
I have read several Law of Attraction books (including this one). All of these books have a common theme-a focus upon oneself as the source of fulfillment. Guess what? It’s not about you! If you want to change what you attract, you will never succeed by looking to yourself. You must first make God the center of your universe. This is not a message that many of us want to hear or accept because our Western culture is based upon self-gratification. When you seek God and make Him the focus of your life, guess what happens? All of your needs (and more) are fulfilled. That is His promise and God never breaks His promises. If you are sincere about having a fulfilling and meaningful life, I suggest you read The Purpose Driven Life by Rick Warren.

William Ullathorne, in writing about practical religion, wrote:
“There is no master so large-minded, so generous, who is so well acquainted with you and your requirements as God; no father so loving and bountiful; no friend so free from all jealousy; none who so completely loves you for your greater good.”
“There is no tyrant so narrow-minded, so proud-hearted, so exacting, so suspicious, so utterly bent on keeping you to your own littleness, as the one we all know so well, of whose tyranny we have had such bitter experience, and who goes by the name of Myself. Yet God or yourself you must choose for your master.”
Any practice, body of ideas, method, etc. that puts “self” at the center, any scheme to make You the center of your own world, any rules or laws that revolve around “I” are inherently flawed.
Unless and until we acknowledge God as a person (not a higher power that gratifies the human ego) and learn to put Him first in our every single thought, word, and deed, can we even begin to understand His law of attraction, the ultimate law and true meaning of the little word -love.

Well here is another book like all the rest peopel give me to read - read this and it will change your life tonya - it will make you a successful person and woman - but i read it and i try it and nothing good ever happens -I have been abused from the first day I was born - people -men and women took advantage of me and heaped every sort of abuse on me - sexual and emotional and mental - until i was nothin - from teachers and preachers to my 3 husbands - all who took drugs and forced me to take them too - i was an abuser of pills to try and get away from my terible life and in the process i lost contact with 2 of my children and had another one who drowned in an old refrigertor while i was indoors huffing paint - my kids wont speak to me althoguh now i am clean - i was so hooked on oxycontin that when i got clean my body went into shock for the drug - alot of times i still have blackouts and dont know who i am - my new sponser Paula says i should see a doctor but i dont have any insureance - i was fired from my job - my jobs - which is what makes me want to speak about this book. I think good thoughts every day - i wake up in a shelter - no home no kids no job - no fancy clothes or designers rugs - and i put on a second hand suit and walk 20 blocks to an interview - i think good thougths and say prayyers for a job but then get told im not good enough to type a bunch of peoples names into a computer or to clean tolets at a fast food place or to file books at a library - becasue of mistakes i made when i was younger involving men and stealing an drugs and mail fraud. But i change and i think - Tonya today you are gonna get it all - today you are gonna be respected - but i never am - i guess some people just cant start over and whats the point - i’m already middleaged so why try - Paula says i should just give up - which isn’t right for a sponser to say but may be true anyway - but this book says do this and all will be ok and if it is not it is ur fault - but that is just not true - i never wanted to be nothing - i never dreamed about being nothing - but i am - and now what do i do

i bought this book just curious of this so called “law of attraction”…well, i can now say that i completely disagree with it. i can agree that if we pray for something and totally believe it will be given to us and trusting in God completely, we will receive it…however, in the reverse, thinking that if we focus on bad things, bad things will come to us is ludacrous! i cannot believe that God would put bad things in our lives just because of our thoughts and feelings. He is a Merciful God and doesn’t play games like that with us. i know this from experience…i was placed in a bad situation more than once…one being an abusive relationship…i know for a fact i did not “attract” this into my life. i didn’t grow up in that atmosphere and my mother taught me to be strong and independent, so this situation was NOT my fault! i didn’t focus on abuse or anything of that nature before this man came into my life. but now i guess one would say, what kind of Merciful God would give this to me…well, now i am actually grateful for the experience i had. i wouldn’t change it. don’t get me wrong, it was terrible at the time, but i gained so much from it-strength, wisdom, courage, gratitude, etc etc. i am a much better person from it. and that’s why i know that God puts things in our lives for a very good reason. it may seem bad at the time, but in the end you will always see a silver lining if you look hard enough and far enough. this is like poor people-some say, oh they attracted that into their lives. NO, God has given this situation as a test. and most of them accept it gratefully. as a matter of fact, it can be a blessing. some of the “poorest” people are the best people at heart. and some of the “richest” people are the most wretched. “poor” people are content with what they have. the “rich” always want more and are never satisfied. i would much rather be content than constantly grabbing for more and more…wearing myself thin trying to attain “things” when my life is passing me by like the blink of an eye…then what do i have to show for myself in the end?? things?? i would much rather have wisdom, strength, courage, and gratitude…enjoying the life that God has given me…just being happy to be me and to have lived the life i’ve lived…being free from chasing all its fancies. this in my book is TRUE freedom.
i honestly believe this “law of attraction” is made up. i looked it up to see if this is an actual law of science and IT’S NOT! it’s pseudo-science, meaning, it’s not genuine science, but only having the appearance of it. come on people! please be careful with what you believe. this is a dangerous trap. and so easy to fall in….i almost fell in myself. i don’t fault the author as he probably just fell in too. this is a serious trap from satan…if you want to look further, just look at the so called “teachings of abraham” by esther hicks, one of the biggest preachers of this cult. she says she channels an entity named ABRAHAM….what an enticing name for this entity to have-the father of all the three monotheistic religions-judaism, christianity, and islam. what a brilliant plan satan has! don’t be fooled! this way of thinking leads to many things-believing that the ‘universe’ can somehow bring you things-well, who created that universe?? or even worse, thinking you are a god and can bring these things into your life, arrogantly forgetting the One who gave you life. please be humble to your Lord and worship Him and only Him. the universe doesn’t deserve your prayers and you are NO god, so please listen to your heart and your common sense and don’t fall for this trap.

This book is good because it actually talks about the importance of finding out what we don’t want and seeing the contrast between what we want and don’t want. When we realize what is that we don’t want, then we can become more focused and clear as to what we actually do desire and then have even more motivation to go after it.
I just read some of the comments, and all I can say is, WOW! I too believe in God. But I also believe in The Law of Attraction. You actually can do both. God doesn’t bring bad things into our life, or cause bad things to happen. What He does do, is He gives us the freedom to make choices. They may be good or they may be bad, but WE make them! And if we continue to dwell on our past mistakes, relationships, abuse, or whatever else that is negative, we are condemning ourselves to a life, that God certainly doesn’t want for us! But, again He gives us the freedom to make our own choices. And believe me, I had a life filled with negativity, before I learned another way to live my life. Today I choose God and any other help I can get to live a life free of control, from any bad thing that happened to me in the past. The Law of Attraction does work, and you can even pick and choose, as far as what you believe, compared to what the Bible says. They can both work together. God wants us to live a blessed life, and be a blessing to others. If you haven’t noticed, that starts with each individual person. So it does start with me changing my life, as an example to my family. The more I focus on changing myself, the more I can be a blessing to others. For me, it all works together, and I think it’s ashame to waste this life, on feeling sorry for ourselves.
