Today, many people are very familiar with the Law of Attraction. For anyone who watched “The Secret,” the Law of Attraction, and its principles were communicated very clearly. This universal law became conceptually familiar to people desiring healthier lifestyles, more money, and/or a soul mate. As great and entertaining as “The Secret” was, I’m still wondering “how did it help people master the law of attraction?”

I’ve had a lot of communication with a lot of people that shared frustration, disappointment, and/or confusion with the Law of Attraction. They have wondered how things truly manifest. They want to trust that it will all work out but they know they need to do something. They realize that they need to take concrete action but they don’t know what steps to take.

I have to agree with anyone who is frustrated, confused, or disappointed with the Law of Attraction. Unfortunately, many of America’s popular Law of Attraction teachers are either neglecting or forgetting about one very important thing: the human psyche.

The mind is very complex and it would be unfair of me to ask America’s law of attraction teachers to address the psychology of it. After all, they are keeping things simple. However, if you know anyone who can integrate psychology with the Law of Attraction, listen to and learn from them. They have got something good!

When I watched “The Secret,” my disappointment was associated with how the teachers made the manifestation process sound so simple. I noticed my reaction to Esther Hicks stating, “When you see those things that you are not wanting in your experience, do not talk about them, don’t write about them, don’t join groups about them, and don’t push against them. Do your best to ignore them. Remove your attention from the things that you do not want, while you give undivided attention to the things that you do want.”

As beautiful as this sounds and as much as I appreciate the teachings of Abraham Hicks, I thought, “Ignoring what I don’t want really doesn’t work.” For example, I’ve tried to ignore pain in my body and hurtful words spoken to me, but anytime that I check in with myself, it’s still there. I can find it somewhere, on some level, repressed in my mind or body. And guess what? My unconscious mind is constantly reminding me about it! The unconscious mind is serving me as a reminder to do my work, heal, and to grow.

Did you know that the word “unconscious” was mentioned only once in “The Secret?” The unconscious mind is too important to be mentioned so little when talking about the Law of Attraction. I understand that the Law of Attraction teachers are supporting consciousness, but they are leaving out the unconscious. As an example, let’s say I generate conscious thoughts that are positive and aligned with what I want to manifest all day long. I have developed a wonderful skill, but my unconscious is uncontrollable, and the real secret is that the unconscious mind is feeding my conscious thoughts.

Think about your habits for a moment. These are unconscious processes feeding your conscious mind. Sometimes we do things without realizing they’re happening. Habits are direct results of your unconscious mind bypassing conscious thought. What are we to do about these unconscious tendencies when we are not aware of them?

The best we can do is to develop self awareness. This is also called consciousness. We can generate (create) thoughts that help our manifestation processes. By thinking about what we want, visualizing it, feeling the emotions associated with it, we create it!

The key to the Law of Attraction working for you is to become more aware; to raise consciousness. It doesn’t matter what you call it. Another thing you can do, as Don Miguel Ruiz so eloquently put it, “stalk your reactions to other people’s actions.” This will help you understand what your unconscious mind is “brewing.” The more you listen to your thoughts, catch your unconscious habits in action, and observe how you react to others, the better chances you have of succeeding from using the Law of Attraction.

The universe is conspiring to give you what you want. Sometimes you may think you know what you desire, but often it is just a guess at a solution. This happens because your conscious thoughts are not aligning with your unconscious ones. The better you monitor your behavior, the greater your chances are in understanding your unconscious desires. Once you have the awareness, you’ll understand what you want. Then you can do your part to create it!

As I read through this chapter, “The Law of Sacrifice” from Raymond Holliwell’s book Working With The Law, I wasn’t very comfortable. He speaks of discipline and sacrifice. He talks about Abraham Lincoln as a fine example of discipline. Well, I don’t know about you, but I never wanted to be president and although I have a healthy respect for Abraham Lincoln, I never aspired to be anything like him. It’s almost like he’s to big to compare. Like trying to be Jesus or something.

But the fact is Lincoln was but a mere human. Just like the rest of us. He accomplished great things because he let go of the little things and moved toward the greater. He had the discipline to stay on track and not wander. He always had the big picture in mind. He did not concentrate on the trivial.

But Holliwell paints a rather austere picture. I love to have fun and discipline and sacrifice don’t sound all that fun. In fact quite the opposite. You know what I mean? However, Bob Proctor and Mary Morrissey are able to explain the Law of Sacrifice in a way that doesn’t seem so dismal.

Proctor says this of The Law of Sacrifice, “Sacrifice is giving up something of a lower nature to receive something of a higher nature.” So you’re not really giving stuff up, you’re “trading up” so to speak. You’re letting something smaller go for something bigger. More for your money, right?

So the first thing we all need to do is decide what it is we want. And the next step is to determine what needs to change to get us there. What will you give up, let go, or sacrifice in order to get to the place you want to be or have what you want to have. Maybe the money you save by not buying that $5 cup of coffee each morning could go towards the down payment on that sweet new car you’ve had your eye on. Or one of the hours you spend watching TV could be spent exercising and moving toward that stronger, healthier body you’ve been wishing for.

Let go of something of less importance in order to make room for something greater. That feels good. That feels right. It’s like when my kids have to clean out their closets and get rid of the old toys to make room for the new ones they just got for Christmas or their birthdays or whatever. Or cleaning out my closet after each season and making room for the new clothes (and shoes of course :) ). We get rid of the things that no longer fit or are worn out and we make room for the new stuff. We always need to be moving on to bigger and better things.

Life will forever move forward. We wouldn’t want it any other way. Even if everything is great, it would eventually get boring. Change is good. It keeps us fired up and moving on to our next step in life, whatever that may be.

I’m sure you’ve heard of the Law of Attraction and how the essence of the law is that your thoughts attract the things you are thinking about. But do you ever get frustrated that sometimes you focus your thoughts on the things you want but are still not getting the results, or at least, not getting the results you want quickly enough?

I’ve once heard that when dealing with the Law of Attraction, we have to be patient. But the question we are all dying to ask is, “How long do we have to be patient for?”

Some people wait day in and day out to attract what they want but haven’t gotten it yet. It’s possible that somebody who focuses all their thoughts on a shiny, new red car, that it may not come so easily. Although it may be impossible to focus our thoughts 24/7 on the things we want in life, it’s possible to use our emotions to attract what we want quicker.

In Esther and Jerry Hicks book, The Law of Attraction, The Basic Teachings of Abraham, they believe that the more emotion one has when thinking about thoughts, the quicker it is being manifested into one’s physical experience:

Although every thought has creative potential, the thoughts that do not bring great emotion with them are not bringing the subject of your thought into your experience with any sort of speed. When it comes to thoughts that you feel strong emotion about–whether it is positive emotion or negative emotion–the essence of thoughts is being quickly manifested into your physical experience. And that emotion that you are feeling is communication from your Inner Being, letting you know that you are accessing the power of the Universe.

I believe that part of the Law of Attraction that needs to be put into application for those who wish to attract what they want faster. One may begin doing this through imagination and visualization.

For example, if one were to attract a wealthy, abundant life into their physical reality, it might be common to visualize the amount of money they wanted every day. Writing it down on a piece of paper and plastering it somewhere where one could see it every day would be an example of this. But how effective is this in bringing out a genuine desire for that amount of money?

One way to develop this type of desire is think about how wealth and abundance makes them feel. After all, money is just paper. If money didn’t have value than having a lot of it wouldn’t matter. It is the things that money brings people that create the feelings and emotions that people desire.

So a good way of thinking about wealth, prosperity, and abundance is to imagine different ways to how it makes one feel through spending time everyday to communicate with your inner self.

How would it feel if you had an unlimited amount of money? What would you do with it? Where would you go? Would you use this money to help others out? If you did, what would their reactions be? How would you feel seeing their reaction? How would your friends and family view you? How would you view yourself? What is the difference between you now and you before? Do you feel any different at all? Do you feel a sense of freedom and happiness now?

When you spend some time alone and answer these questions, you body may go through positive emotions that will create a desire for wealth.

These are some example questions that evoke feelings from a money mindset perspective. It is not to say that this would only apply to wealth and money, but you can make up a list questions for anything else you wish to attract in your life.

If you are consciously aware of your emotions in every day, you will also notice that you attract things quickly based on the type of emotion and the thoughts you are carrying.

If you wake up in an angry mood, you will go through the day not talking to people or getting angry at the small things about your day. If you are in a depressed mood when you wake up, you will feel sluggish through the day and find everything around you to be bad. On the other hand, if you wake up excited or are in a happy mood, you’ll attract excitement and happiness randomly throughout the day.

So even though thoughts are something that eventually will attract what you are thinking about according to the Law of Attraction, but thoughts that bring a great deal of emotion will bring the things you wish to manifest quicker. I strongly believe that this is true because human beings, by nature, are motivated by emotions and take actions based on their emotions.

If one is more emotionally driven towards what they want by the thoughts they choose, they will naturally take action that is required in order to get there. And that is the purpose of what I think this paragraph is trying to convey to the reader. I hope this helps, and I hope you can manifest whatever is that you want in your life through your chosen thoughts and positive emotions.

If you want to be using the Law of Attraction and the Law of Vibration to attract anything that you want in life, you need to be making sure that you use these 2 keys. If you don’t do these 2 things, you will not be able to attract what you desire. That is how important these are. So let’s get into them.

The first thing that you need to do once you know what it is that you want is you need to become “emotionally charged” by this goal. What I mean by that is this.

Say you want a new car because your old car is starting to break down. If you actually want to have a new car show up for you, you need to get emotional about having a new car. Something like being excited as to how good it feels to be in a new car, driving it, parking it, looking at it, all of it. If you are not engaged emotionally then there is no way that a new car will show up. It just goes against the law of vibration and the law of attraction.

The other key that I wanted to share here is that you need to “be in this emotionally charged state often”. It is not enough for you to just get excited one Saturday afternoon and think that the new car will show up for you. That also is not how this works.

You need to be in the state of “emotionally charged” often for you to attract your desires. Otherwise, it is just not going to happen.

So through using these 2 key’s you will be able to attract anything that you desire. These are the basic building blocks for the law of attraction and the Law of Vibration.

Having whatever you want may sound like quite a stretch…but it is really not as hard as it seems. Of course, when you don’t have something you want, or maybe something you NEED, getting it may seem impossible. In this infinitely abundant Universe, nothing is impossible.

As Napoleon Hill said in Think and Grow Rich, “Our only limitation, within reason, lies in the development and use of our imagination.”

There are four steps to attracting and manifesting anything that you desire. By virtue of the Universal Laws (The Law of Attraction, The Law of Deliberate Creation and The Law of Allowing), if you follow these steps faithfully, you must attract whatever it you want. You can be, do or have anything.

Step 1 : List Your Desires – By this time in your life you probably have a long laundry list of desires. Some will say that they don’t know what they want…well, that is just wrong. That is just fear speaking. So in this first step take a blank piece of paper and write the numbers 1 through 20 down one side. Now, very quickly, take less than two minutes, write down a list of the things you want to be, do or have in your life. Do it now.

Step 2: Prioritizing Your Desires – You can have any of the things that you wrote down. Through Esther Hicks, in Esther and Jerry Hicks book, Money And The Law Of Attraction-Learning To Attract Wealth, Health And Happiness, Abraham says, “If this time-space reality has within it the ability to inspire a desire within you, it is absolute that this time-space reality has the ability to yield you a full and satisfying manifestation of that same desire. It is Law.” So, your desire is sufficient proof that you can have it.

Since we do have some limiting beliefs, and we do get stuck sometimes, while there is no true reason for this being so, we find it easier and more effective to focus on a single desire at one time. This means that we have to pick one desire from the list of twenty that you just made. This won’t be hard either.

First, just go through and cross out the ten least important…again, do this quickly, take less than a minute, just listen to your heart.

Beside each of the remaining ten, write a number from one to ten, where ten is the desire that you want most and one is the desire that you want least and use every number only once. Now next to that number write a second number from one to five where five means that you can actually see that desire happening somehow (don’t worry about how) and one means that you can’t even envision the miracle that it would take to get that desire. You can use any of the numbers one through five as often as you would like. Move fast, the Universe likes speed.

Now, total the two numbers that you just wrote down. Look at the desires with largest totals next to them and pick the one that your heart tells you to choose.

Step 3: Looking At Your Desire The Right Way – Desires can be driven from want or from joy. You cannot manifest from want, you can only manifest from joy. (Don’t worry if you feel unhappy right now…we’ll get past that.) The point here is that you have to look at your desire and focus on what it will bring you, not what it will help you avoid, get you out of, or get rid of. If your desire is to “Have all my bills paid in full,” and your motivation is, “Because I hate the stack of bills sitting on my desk,” you are actually focusing on the pile of bills and all you can get are more bills. If you can begin to shift your focus and have your desire be because, “I feel good when I satisfy all my obligations to others, and it feels good to know that I have sufficient money flowing easily into my life. Having my bills paid allows me to spend more time having fun and doing the things I enjoy and paying my bills is the right thing to do,” then you are moving to right end of the vibrational spectrum.

Take the single desire that you have chosen, and on a new, blank, piece of paper, write that desire on the top. Now, under that write, “I want this because,” and start writing all the reasons why you want this thing. Before you start, set an intention to find all the positive, uplifting reasons why you want you desire. Now take as long as you need to create you positive statement as to why you want to be, do or have this particular thing.

Step 4: Live In The Feeling Of The Wish Fulfilled – Now for the most fun step of all. Neville Goddard said, “I ask you to take me seriously. Imagination will fulfill itself, so do not limit yourself by anything that is now happening, no matter what it is. Knowing what you want, conceive a scene which would imply you have it. Persuade yourself of its truth and walk blindly on in that assumption. Believe it is real. Believe it is true and it will come to pass. Imagination will not fail you if you dare to assume and persist in your assumption, for imagination will fulfill itself in what your life becomes.” He also said that the way to make something happen is to “live in the feeling of the wish fulfilled.”

So, now that you have your primary desire and you have gotten positive about why you want, take one more blank sheet of paper (and if you have been cheating and have not yet written anything down, do write this down, it is the most powerful step you will ever take) write across the top, “Now that I am or have my,” and fill in your desire. Make sure you are stating your desire in the present tense. Then continue with, “I feel” and write how you feel. Write what you are doing now that you have your desire…now that it is here and you have fully manifested it. Then, write down a telephone conversation with your best friend describing how your life has changed now that your desire is here. Next write down a description of something that you are about to do now that your desire is manifest. Finally, write another statement about how you are feeling with your desire accomplished.

Read what you have written, take a few deep breaths, close your eyes and sit for a few minutes savoring these feelings of your desire fulfilled. Repeat this process as often as you can until, as if by magic, and it will seem so natural it will catch you unaware, you truly are living in your desire fulfilled.

That’s all there is to it…have fun.

Why do people succeed? Why do people fail? Why do people get what they most fear in their lives?

Many people have heard, in many forms, “focus on what you want, and you will get it.” So many people hear it, and yet few get there. Why? What is it that is stopping you and millions of others from getting exactly what it is that you want in your life?

There are a lot of things that have been said on it, but really the big point that so few get is a simple one.

Focus on What You Want: I want to be successful in my career, I want to have a loving relationship, I want to get an income of $5,000 a month.

Do you feel good about it? If yes, then you are on the right track, and it is a great start. Do you feel bad when you think about it? Then you are focusing on your LACK of it!

If you want to be successful making an income of $5,000 a month, and what you are thinking is “I will never make that much money…” then you are thinking about the fact that you don’t have it and don’t think you can get it!

I will give an example from my own experience. I wanted to be successful, but had some financial issues that made me fear being homeless. My focus was to make enough money to keep my house and NOT BE HOMELESS. So what was the focus? HOMELESS!

What did I get? Homeless. I spent months getting myself back into a condition of having a home of my own, and did get there. But the point was – I got what I focused on, even though it wasn’t what I wanted.

This works in any part of your life. My wife was constantly talking about cancer, and I became a bit nervous about getting it. A couple of years later, guess what? I GOT IT.

This is a lot mentioned in several books related to the www.11newlawofattraction.com 11 new law of attraction. It is really the same thing – whatever you think of most of the time is what you will get. Do you want it? Great! Do you fear it? CHANGE IT!

If you want great health, tell yourself: I want GREAT HEALTH. Do you not want to get cancer, not get other illnesses, not be fat? Think of what you DO want, not what you don’t. I want great health, I want to be fit, I want to be… You get the idea.

Remember – feel GOOD about what you focus on. If you think about it and feel fear, feel depressed or upset, it is probably the Lack of it that you are thinking about. Your inner dialogue will say a LOT of where you are going to go in life.

Do you feel that you are a victim? Just realize, YOU CAUSED YOUR LIFE! Things you focused on, even if they weren’t what you wanted, are what came about in your life. It may have been a bit more subtle than such statements as “I want to wreck my car… I want to be robbed…” More commonly, it was fear of those very things that caused them!
